SIG SAUER, world renowned for there firearms, is the number one choice by law enforcement, international military, and commercial users. SIG SAUER is well known for there unbeatable firearm prices, high quality and satisfaction, as well as there reliability. In the United States today 1 in 3 law enforcement professionals use SIG SAUER firearms. SIG SAUER originated in a wagon factory created in 1853 by 3 prestigious men; Friedrich Peyer im Hof, Heinrich Moser and Conrad Neher. They changed their name to Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG), German for "Swiss Industrial Company" after winning a contract to produce 30.000 muskets. On October 1 of 2007 SIGARMS officially changed their name to SIG Sauer.

SIGARMS, in 1985, was created as the American branch of SIG in Tysons Corner, Virginia to import the P220 and P230. SIGARMS, in 1987, then moved to Herndon, Virginia, followed by Exeter, New Hampshire in 1990 to harbor new manufacturing. In October, 2000, Micheal Lüke and Thomas Ortmeier bought SIGARMS and its European sister companies Sauer and Sohn, Blaser, Mauser and Swiss Arms. SIG Sauer is currently the largest of the five companies and also one of the largest firearms manufacturers in the world. In 2005 SIG Sauer expanded its operations and sales by an increase of almost 50%. SIG Sauer also runs a firearms training school called the SIG SAUER Academy, in Epping, New Hampshire.

SIG SAUER handguns began in the 1970s, beginning with the SIG Sauer SIG P220 handgun in 1975 after working on creating a pistol that would balance quality and price. Prior to World War II Sauer exclusively focused on shotguns and hunting rifles. However, once the war had ceased Sauer with SIG returned to manufacturing handguns.
